Electricity is perhaps the most essential raw material in use today. The electricity produced in power plants is circulated through the electricity transmission and distribution networks to be supplied/delivered to consumers. The quality of electricity known as (Power Quality) is one of the important factors that determine the economic efficiency of both consumers and electrical distribution networks. Electrical devices are designed to work in distributing systems set by nominal values in terms of voltage and frequency (for example, 230V at 50Hz). Sometimes, electric energy distribution might not conform to the acceptable range of the said nominal parameters. Voltage in particular can vary considerably in relation to the nominal values. These variations can cause undesired and potentially dangerous conditions for the users.
Voltage 'fluctuations' can be 'fast' in a few milliseconds (for example, distribution lines hit by lightning) or 'slow', with duration that can last several seconds, minutes or even hours depending on the cause. Slow fluctuations are generated by increased voltage levels such as 'surge' due to poor regulation at distribution source, disconnection of large loads, over voltage at generators output, etc) or - more frequently - by decreased voltage level ('sags' due to connection of large loads, motor start up, undersized distribution lines, faults to ground, poor MV voltage regulation, etc). In all these cases, the voltage stabilizer is the solution that guarantees the safety of electrical devices.
1. Static Type Regulators (Single Phase and 3-phase)
The static Regulators are ideal for sensitive environment where the correction speed is very critical for the output voltage regulation (for example, computers, laboratory equipment, Medical instrumentation). This type of stabilizer has correction time of 20 milliseconds per volt for full regulation .
Typical Features of Static Voltage Regulators
2. Servo Type Regulators (Single Phase and 3-phase)
The Servo Type Regulators are ideal for industrial application where heavy duty equipment require high current for starting. They are transformer based with motor control that are microprocessor based.
Typical Features of Servo Type Voltage Regulators:
3. Mini Smart Stabilizers(MCU-8)
Unique design ideal for Small office and Home applications.
Typical Features of MCU-8 :
4. Static Transfer Switches (STS)
The STS monitors two power sources and automatically shifts to the better one on sensing the failure or degradation of either source. There is no wear and tear associated with this process. Our STS can be used to protect loads and entire facilities or as a stand-alone system. STS is ideal when you have multiple uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) that can not be parallely connected.
Typical Features of our STS are:
The supply of stable Power free from any input fluctuations is a key to ensure that efficiency and reliability are guaranteed for your equipment. Data loss, security failures, machine fault, reduced productivity, inaccurate information and discomfort are only a few examples of potential problems caused by unsteady supply and all those issues will eventually translate to higher cost.
Katharos Engineering has a range of products and services to help alleviate these problems. We do so by partnering with some of the world’s best brands in our solutions delivery.
